Ready, City Manager OR.EO 3200 Tahquaz Canyon Way• P.I.Spuugs,CaLfomia 92262 )FO R� TEL:(760)323-8201 •FAX (760)323-8207 •TDD:(760)864-9527 Letter of Agreement The City of Palm Springs and the Palm Springs Police Management Association ("PSPMA') agree to adopt the following non-precedent setting policy concerning the rights and responsibilities of PSPMA members with regard to salary and benefits while on active duty in support of the recent declaration of war on terrorism ("WOT"): 1) Upon call-up for active duty, as provided for in the California Military and Veterans Code, Chapter 7 commencing with Section 389 and any amendment thereto, an employee covered under the Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") between the City and the PSPMA, will be entitled to 30 days compensation at his/her current salary. Thereafter, the City shall provide the difference between the employee's military pay and City pay for an additional period of 60 days. All other benefits shall continue without interruption during this 90-day period. 2) At the end of the 90-day period the employee shall have the option of cashing in accrued leave hours. 3) The employee shall be entitled to return to his/her City position at the conclusion of the active military duty, as provided by law. APPROVING A LETTER OF AGREEMENT WITH THE PALM SPRINGS POLICE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION ("PSPMA") FOR ENHANCED MILITARY LEAVE BENEFITS IN SUPPORT OF THE RECENT DECLARATION OF WAR ON TERRORISM. -------------- I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order, approving a Letter of Agreement with the Palm Springs Police Management Association ('PSPMA") for enhanced military leave benefits in support of the recent declaration of war on terrorism, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held on the 5"h day of December 2001.
