Dear Mr. Kleindienst:
I am outraged that you and Mr. Mills insist on appointing someone other
than
Deyna Hodges to the vacant council seat. Your politics are obvious, as
you
are seeking another crony to rubber stamp your votes. Why don't you
listen to
the citizens of Palm Springs for a change?
We know you will not call for a special election predominantly because
you
know that the good citizens of Palm Springs would not vote for another
one of
your cronies to rubber stamp your votes. Not to mention the cost of the
election this close to the last election. We are researching the budget
to
ascertain why our needs are not being met, such as public safety, for
example.
Beware of April 2002, you will be voted out as well. Read the opinion
page
once in a while; you have many citizens less than impressed your
ideology.
You and your "moral majority Gestapo" will be voted out of office, if
not
recalled before hand.
Think about it long and hard before you begin the process. You will
regret
anything other than installing the candidate receiving the third highest
vote
to office. Not to mention non stop protest during the rest of your
tenure. Is
it worth the unrest you will receive for your remaining time in office?
Do
you know what you are about to take on? I think not?
I am totally disgusted, appalled, and offended by your arrogance!

Council members, I watched with disappointment last evenings City Council meeting. I don't yet have Chris Mills' e-mail
address, or he would be included in this note of despair. I find that patting Deyna on the back, giving her awards and
recognition for her fine 11 years of leadership, then taking such a strong, firm stance on keeping her out of the two-year
Council seat shameful. I'm certain she is hurting from that political knife that has been plunged into her back. I applaud you,
Jeanne and Ron, for wanting to do what I, and a lot of my fellow citizens feel is fair and right. You, Will, and your new crony I
don't understand. I don't understand what you mean by building a TEAM when I have thought these past few years we had a
good TEAM working for us My only exception was Jim Jones-certainly not Deyna Hodges. I've always been a friend and
supporter of this City Council, but your direction is changing, and I'm in question. Only time will tell...and, only time will heal. or
not. Disappointedly, Don Hill AKA. Barber Don

Good morning Jeaneeeeee!!!I!!!
I want to flip off my hat to you and let you know that we are behind you
and will continue to see that you step up the positions of the City. It was do
admirable to hear and watch your powerful words to the Mayor and Mills last
evening. No truer words could have been spoken that you were and will
once again become a team. It's too bad that the Mayor couldn't stand and
recall what he stated the week prior about having to spend our taxpayers
dollars on this special election where those funds could have been put to
work in a more useful area. THE PEOPLE WILL HAVE ONE MESSAGE AND
MANY VOICES!!! in the days coming up. Thanks again Jeanne for being you.
Wishing you and your family a spiritual and happy HOLIDAY SEASON!!II
Warm regards,
Rick Combs
P.S. I didn't want to take any more of you time reading, but we LOVE you and
will always be there for you.

It is obvious to me (and should be to everyone in Palm Springs) that The Mayor and Chris Mills are dismissing the people of
Palm Springs! At the City Council meeting on 12/05 the Mayor stated: "I don't want this going into a special election'! Here
are the facts "Kleindeinst" translated from German means "small/little service'! Is this how the Mayor spends our taxpayers
dollars? Due to the action taken by Mills and the Mayor, this election will cost a minimum of$20.000 plus all the added
expenses of an election. In this case, the Mayor's last name should be translated to big/service because he is charging the
people with an enormous expense. Not very fiscally responsible, is it? We the citizens need to request an audit of the City to
determine what all of the costs of the special election will be. This audit should take place after the April special election. The
dollars spent by the citizens of Palm Springs should be billed to Mills and Kleindeinst personally for it is their arrogance that
this special election has arisen!

We watched the city council meeting tonight Dec 12 and we are upset we
have to have another election in April to fill the city council seat
left vacant by Jim Jones. We fully support yours and Ron Oden decision
to take the 3rd place winner Deyna Hodges and appoint her. She served
the city well and worked very hard for us . We voted for her to return
and we will miss her. We also voted for Chris Mills and we are not
delighted with his snotty behavior and his saying he sees no urgency in
filling this city council seat. The city council works best when it has
the 5 people it is designed to have. Also we would like to say what a
wonderful job on the city council you are doing, we have also voted for
you every time you have been on the ballot. We like how you think and
make decisions that affect us. Please let us know who else we can write
to get Deyna Hodges back. Sincerely Roxanne Davis and Doreen Mickens

Dear Mr. Oden:
I would like to thank you for your comments made at the last Council
meeting
pertaining to filling the vacant council position.
Your statements were very valid and reflected the reason why you were
reelected. As you stated it is a Democratic Issue! It is imperative that
the
people be properly represented and Ms. Hodges be placed in the vacant
position as 3rd highest vote getter.
Thank you for your representation and keep up the good work!

Subject: E-mail to Mayor Kleindeinst and Councilperson Mills
Dear Mayor Kleindeinst and Councilperson Mills:
I would like to impress upon you to do what is just and proper in
filling
the current council vacancy. Mr. Colon's statements at the last council
meeting are very correct and represent the voice of the people and what
politicians are elected to do - REPRESENT THE PEOPLE.
With an election just past, should there have been three positions open,
the
top three vote recipients would have been elected. those votes represent
the
overall feelings of the population. It is part of the democratic
process. If
the election was not recent, then there might be some question as to
appointment to the vacancy. As it stands, Ms. Hodges should be appointed
to
the vacancy. In no uncertain terms, should anyone else be considered for
the
position.
It is not in the fiscal interest of Palms Springs to hold a special
election. It is in the interest of the City that the Mayor and Council
properly represent the public and fill the position in an expeditious
manner
without undue strife and turmoil!

Re: City Council Vacancy
Dear Clerk:
Please add my name to the long list of residents who agree that Deyna Hodges is
the most qualified and logical candidate to replace Jim Jones. I only wish she could
replace Chris Mills. I feel certain that I am not the only person who regrets having voted
for the arrogant Mr. Mills. Having been sworn in only a week ago, he now declares that
he will "interview"people for this position. How quickly he appointed himself the "big
boss" of the City and therefore empowered to conduct "interviews!"
I hope to be informed when Mr. Mills'recall petition is circulated.
Very truly yours,

Re:Appointment to sill Jim Jones seat on City Council CL
Dear Mr, Mayor:
My husband and I watched the Council meeting last night and we were saddened by the divisiveness this
vacancy has created.
We are long time supporters of your efforts and your energy spent to better,, City. We have approached
you and told you of our admiration malty times.
We wish to take issue with your statement that the voters of ttticity have spoken for a change by electing
Chris Mills, If this were taste, lion Oden would have been rejected
Embarrassed as we are as to why we voted for Mr. Mills,we think a lot of your supporters may have voted
in the same manner.
We noted the sizable campaign contribution to Mr. Mills, and the information that he was the ONLY one
you could support. At the time,my husband noted that your attitude indicated there would be a stacked
deck with Mr.Mills and you.
Nevertheless, we thought with your endorsement Mr.Mills may have something to contribute to Palm
SOV'Ap4pt we may miss.
WrAgatiy did not vote AGAINST Ms. Bodges, merely for your candidate based on our respect for you.
We fail to understand your stance, along with Mr.Mills,as to why this opening cannot be filled by the
person that Palm Springs citizens voted strongly for. The vote was quite narrow and indicates the people
of Palm Springs found nothing wrong with her tetutre,
We believe the citizens are not being honored. The meeting was flooded with folks who came out to let
you know flow they felt. We did not hear any citizens supporting any other candidate. Indeed you and
Mr-Mills failed to brings anyone forward. So you rejected the vote and the vocal support displayed it) last
night's meeting.
Finally,Mr.Mayor,we felt you had a great future in politics and looked forward to supporting you in any
effort You may have, However, "Doing tire Right Thing"is important to us, To appoint the third leading
candidate in a most recent local election would be the RIGHT thing. Otherwise, the situation reeks of
cronyism in a blatant manner.
We are,as always, committed to Jeatme and lion, We sincerely appreciate their efforts to save the City Of
Palm Springs this extra expense,
