HomeMy WebLinkAbout2/6/2002 - STAFF REPORTS (14) DATE: February 6, 2002 TO: City Council FROM: Assistant City Manager DISPOSITION OF FORMER COUNCILMAN JONES' SALARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the release of former Councilman Jones' salary to the charity of his choice. SUMMARY: Former Councilman Jones was entitled to a salary during his service; however, he did not receive it at his request. This action would allow for the accrued salary to be given to the charity of Mr. Jones' choice. BACKGROUND: City Council members are entitled to a monthly salary. Former Councilman Jones chose not to receive his salary. During his service to the community, $8460 of salary owed to Mr. Jones has accrued on the City books. Mr. Jones has requested that he be allowed to designate a charity to receive these funds. A Minute Order is attached a tthhorizing such an expenditure. IV AYL N F. AUTHORIZING THE RELEASE OF$8460 OF FORMER COUNCILMAN JONES' ACCRUED SALARY TO THE CHARITY OF HIS CHOICE; CHOICE TO BE DESIGNATED IN WRITING BY THE FORMER COUNCILMAN. I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order authorizing the release of$8460 of former Councilman Jones' accrued salary to the charity of his choice; choice to be designated in writing by the former Councilman, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held on the 611 day of February 2002.
