HomeMy WebLinkAbout4/24/2002 - STAFF REPORTS (8) DATE: April 24, 2002 'S TO: City Council FROM: Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities and Director of Procurement and Contracting APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF ONE JLGN35 ARTICULATING BOOM LIFT FOR USE BY THE CONVENTION CENTER, RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the purchase of one Articulating Boom Lift from the lowest responsible bidder, Rental Service Corporation (RSC) of Riverside, CA at a price of$33,543.65 including sales tax and delivery. SUMMARY: The purchase of this equipment is recommended to replace a 1987 model which was taken out of service because it no longer met the needs of the convention center. Funds were accumulated from the user department over the life of the equipment to provide for replacement. BACKGROUND: Seven vendors were solicited for bids. The following is a summary of the results: Rental Service Corporation $33,543.65 United Rentals $33,944.26 Hawthorne Equipment $35,998.19 Brookstone Equipment $38,057.38 Jimmy's Equipment $41,098.00 Skylift Equipment non-responsive Hoskins Equipment non-responsive The replaced unit was declared "surplus" and sold through a public auction firm for $4,900.00 Funding for this purchase is available and appropriated in account # 510-5475- 50015, MVR Reserves, Specialized Equipment.
