AIRPORT SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS - FAA GRANT AMENDMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that City Council authorize the City Manager to accept a grant
amendment to Airport Improvement Program Grant (AIP 3-06-0181-33) related to
security improvements at the Airport.
SUMMARY:
This actionwill result in additional funding for mandatory security improvements atthe
Airport.
BACKGROUND:
Federal Aviation Administration Grant AIP - 33 was issued to the Airport last year.
One of the work items was for first phase funding of the temporary passenger hold
room replacement projects. Design for the project is complete, but as a result of the
events of 9/11, that project was placed on hold. There remains approximately
$700,000 in AIP 33 for terminal expansion. The Airport has requested that the grant
be amended to reprogram the money for security improvements. The dollars would
be utilized for design of various security projects at the Airport.
The FAA has consented to the request and the paperwork is in process. The
attached Minute Order would authorize the City Manager to accept the grant
amendment on behalf of the City.
