HomeMy WebLinkAbout6/5/2002 - STAFF REPORTS (12) DATE: June 5, 2002 TO: City Council FROM: Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities and Director of Procurement and Contracting Approve the purchase of a 15-passenger van for use by the James O. Jesse Desert Highland Community Center. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the cooperative purchase of 1 E-350 CNG powered passenger van from Ramsey Street Ford, of Banning, CA through a County of Riverside contract in the amount of $28,000.35 including applicable sales tax, delivery charges. SUMMARY: The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians recently donated $30,000 to the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Community Center for the purchase of a 15-passenger van. The van is needed to help transport participants in Desert Highland events to and from various locations. BACKGROUND: At the Seventh Annual Donation Ceremony, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians generously awarded $30,000 to the James O. Jesse Desert Highland Community Center specifically for the purpose of purchasing a 15-passenger van. The funds were deposited in account#001-2590-50020, Motor Vehicles. The Procurement Manager, in accordance with Municipal Code Section 7.09.010 has researched the comparative costs, values and feasibility of using our own competitive process versus utilization of a state or other cooperative contract. The Procurement Manager finds that sufficient competition has been conducted to protect the public interest and the costs for vehicles and equipment obtained through the County of Riverside vehicle contract is less than the City would obtain through conducting independent processes.A$50 fee will be paid to the County of Riverside for participation in the program. Funds are available for this purchase in account#001-2590-50020, Motor Vehicles. HAROLD E.
