HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/17/2002 - STAFF REPORTS (10) DATE: July 17, 2002 TO: City Council FROM: Executive Director-Airports via Assistant Director of Aviation GRANT ACCEPTANCE RECOMMENDATION: The Airport Commission recommends City Council grant the necessary authority to the City Manager to accept Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Federal Grants for federal fiscal year 2003. SUMMARY: This action will authorize the City Manager to accept Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Federal Grants for federal fiscal year 2003 totaling up to $9 million. BACKGROUND: The federal fiscal 2003 AIP grants will be awarded sometime this summer. To ensure the Airport's ability to accept the grants in a timely fashion, it is requested that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept grants totaling up to $9 million related to an upgrade to the Airport security systems, redesigned roadway and vehicle inspection checkpoint, reconfigured rental car ready lot and structural hardening of the terminal building. �—AS RF2Yn APPROVED/`�/ GRI�ITH 1 �AL`L"5F—S`OT, A.A.E: t Director of Aviation Executive Dictor - Airports APPROVED: City Manager Attachment: 1.
