SUMMARY: City Project#2002-06 is the security modifications to the Northerly Terminal Access Roadway project. The work in this change order will expedite the construction progress and minimize the impact to users of the Airport during the upcoming Southerly Terminal Access Roadway project, City Project #2002-20. BACKGROUND: The Northerly Terminal Access Roadway project is nearing completion and with the Southerly Terminal Access Roadway project set to begin shortly, staff has been exploring ways to reduce costs and minimize the disruptions to the users of the Airport. The Southerly Terminal Access project is estimated to begin construction in April 2003 and be complete by November 2003. Staff is already concerned about the impacts to the Airport during construction, as well as giving the contractor adequate time to complete the project in a successful manner. This change order will allow for the installation of temporary security fencing and pavement removal for this upcoming project, which will reduce the overall construction time by approximately 45 days. Both of these projects are being 100% funded by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Sufficient funds are available in account no. 415-6600-56052. n A Minute Orderis attached for City Council consideration MIKE N WILLIAMS, A.A.E. A LEN F SMOO , A.A.E.
