REQUEST FOR TOURNAMENT FEE WAIVER FOR 9T" ANNUAL CLEAN CITIES
CONFERENCE GOLF TOURNAMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
That City Council consider waiving greens and cart fees for the 9"'Annual Clean
Cities Conference Golf Tournament at the Resort Course of Tahquitz Creek Golf
Resort on Wednesday, May 21, 2003.
SUMMARY:
The gih Annual Clean Cities Conference & Expo will be held May 18-21, with its
golf tournament being held at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort's Resort Course on
Wednesday, May 21.The proceeds of this tournament will benefit the Clean Cities
Coachella Valley Region and NW Riverside County Clean Cities Coalition. Since
this tournament is a major fund raiser for the coalition, it is requesting that the
greens and cart fees be waived. As consideration for this waiver, the City of Palm
Springs would be named the exclusive Title Sponsor for the tournament.
BACKGROUND:
The Clean Cities Coachella Valley Region and NW Riverside County Clean Cities
Coalition is requesting a waiver of greens and cart fees for its golf tournament on
Wednesday, May 21, at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort's Resort Course. It is
anticipated that this year's tournament will generate approximately $ 8,000, with
the proceeds benefitting the coalition to assist in the promotion and
commercialization of alternate fuel vehicles throughout the region.
The estimated unrealized revenue for the Resort Course on this scheduled date
is expected to be$5,200, based upon 100 players and a$52-per-round greens fee
rate.

This tournament is a major fund raiser for the coalition. As consideration for the
waiver, the City of Palm Springs will be named the exclusive Title Sponsor for the
tournament and named in all promotional material and publications for the event.
The City's sponsorship will also be acknowledged in materials distributed to over
10,000 coalition members, industry leaders, individuals, corporations,
manufacturers and energy providers associated with the alternate fuel industry.

Resort on Wednesday, May 21, 2003, was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm
Springs, California, in a meeting thereof held on the 19`h day of March, 2003.
