VISITORS CENTER PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the
Palm Springs Visitors Center Remodel and Restroom Addition, City Project No. 03-
06.
SUMMARY:
This action would be the final formality before the project could be put out for
competitive bid.
BACKGROUND:
O'Donnell & Escalante Architects have completed their design work on the Visitors
Information Center Remodel and Restroom Addition project. The project will be
reviewed by the Planning Commission and the Historic Site Preservation Board just
prior to the City Council meeting and a verbal report of their action will be provided
at the City Council meeting.
A Minute Order approving the plans and specifications and authorizing bidding to
proceed is attached for City Council consideration.

Subject: Palm Springs Visitors Center f�r
The Historic Site Preservation Board, at its July 8, 2003 meeting, voted 5-1 (Hayton dissenting, 1
absent) to approve the plans for the Palm Springs Visitors Center. Overall, the Board was pleased
with the project. Member Hayton supported the project as presented but expressed concern that
the original door was not being incorporated into the plans and that there was a lack of references
to the previous use of the building as a gas station.
