VISITORS CENTER PROJECT CONTRACT AWARD
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council award a construction contract for the Visitor
Center Remodel Project; City Project#03-06.
SUMMARY:
This action will allow for a project start prior to September 1, 2003.
BACKGROUND:
The Visitors Center Remodel project is out to bid with the six(6) pre-qualified firms:
Commercial Diversified B. E. McMurray
James Simon Company 4 Con Engineering
Doug Wall Construction D. W. Johnston Construction
The bids are due at 2:00 p.m. on August 12, 2003 and the results will be brought to
City Council four award of contract on August 13, 2003.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council award the contract for the Visitor Center Project, City
Project#3-06, to Commercial Diversified, Inc.
BACKGROUND:
Two bids were received on the project as follows:

Commercial Diversified, Inc. $460,000 $497,000
Doug Wall Construction $640,000 $709,000
Note: Bid Schedule'W'does not include the sales area casework,where Bid Schedule
"B" does.
Attached are four (4) resolutions for City Council consideration. The first two deal with award
of bid; Resolution#1 awards Bid Schedule"A"and Resolution#2 awards Bid Schedule"B".The
second two deal with appropriating the funds for the work; Resolution #3 appropriates funds
to cover Bid Schedule "A" plus a $40,000 contingency and Resolution #4 appropriates funds
to cover Bid Schedule "B" plus a $40,000 contingency.
On April 30, 2003 City Council approved the design contract for the project and accepted the
following budget:

WHEREAS the City Manager has recommended, and the City Council desires to approve,
certain amendments to said budget;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Director of Finance is authorized to record
inter-fund cash transfers as required in accordance with this Resolution, and that Resolution
20615, adopting the budget for the 2003-04 fiscal year is hereby amended as follows:
