HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/17/2003 - STAFF REPORTS (15) DATE: September 17, 2003 TO: City Council FROM: City Clerk CHANGE OF TITLE TO POSITIONS IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK RECOMMENDATION: That the Council approve Amendment 4 to Resolution 20641 to change Titles in the Office of the City Clerk from Assistant City Clerk to Chief Deputy City Clerk and Records Coordinator to Deputy City Clerk. SUMMARY: The Assistant City Clerk will be retiring in December 2003 and it is anticipated that a Records Coordinator will retire within the current fiscal year. In order to fill these anticipated vacancies the City will conduct a recruitment to fill these positions. Currently, the titles of Chief Deputy City Clerk and Deputy City Clerk are used throughout the industry for these positions. For example, the Cities of Baldwin Park, Chowchilla, Compton, Downey, Long Beach, Oakley, Rancho Mirage, Ridgecrest, Riverside, Santa Maria and Visalia use these titles for these positions. In order to gain the most qualified candidates, it is requested that the Council change the titles in the Office to allow the best possible recruitments. There is no request for change in compensation or change in duties. There is no impact to the General Fund. City Clerk APPROVED: �✓�� � City Managwr Attachments: 1. Resolution I&A RESOLUTION NO. WHEREAS an Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan was adopted effective June 18, 2003, for the 2003-04 fiscal year by Resolution No. 20641; and WHEREAS the City Council desires to amend said Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan to change Titles in the Office of the City Clerk from Assistant City Clerk to Chief Deputy City Clerk, and Records Coordinator to Deputy City Clerk; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Springs, California that the Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan for positions in the City Service for fiscal year 2003-2004 is hereby amended as follows: Section 1.
