Home My WebLink About11/19/2003 - STAFF REPORTS (18) DATE: November 19, 2003 TO: City Council FROM: Police Chief SUBJECT: Federal Grant Funding for Personnel, Equipment and Technology. RECOMMENDATION: The Council hold a Public Hearing and accept an award in the amount of$88,871 of LLEBG (Local Law Enforcement Block Grant) funds to be used for personnel costs, and to procure equipment and technology for the Palm Springs Police Department; and approving matching funds of$9,865. BACKGROUND: The Federal Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has awarded the Police Department $88,781 for FY 2003. A local match of $9,865 is required and will be funded out off the Asset Forfeiture Account. The grant will be used for personnel costs, and to procure equipment and technology for the Palm Spring Police Department. The BJA requires the City to hold a Public Hearing to discuss the use of LLEBG monies. We will be returning to Council later for approval of the grant expenditures.
