HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/3/2003 - STAFF REPORTS (2) DATE: December 3, 2003 TO: City Council FROM: Executive Director-Airports AIRPORT USE AGREEMENT AND PERMIT APPLICATION INSURANCE REQUIREMENT ADJUSTMENT FOR TAXICAB OPERATORS RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve a insurance requirement adjustment for taxicab operators as mandated and regulated by SunlineTransit Agency in order to operate under approved regulations at the Palm Springs International Airport(PSP). SUMMARY: To establish a insurance requirement adjustment in accordance with Sunline Transit Agency regulations for taxicab operators. BACKGROUND: SunlineTransit Agency regulates taxicab operators for the Palm Springs International Airport and maintains that all operators carry a minimum of$300,000 general liability insurance. Present airport use agreement permits call for $750,000 general liability limits which will still be required from other commercial ground transportation operators.An adjustment in this requirement is needed to bring about compliance with Sunline regulations. Sunline Transit Agency will continue to verify compliance measures with airport regulations and report any discrepancies. Airport staff will keep current certificates; of insurance on file as a standard operating procedure. The Airport Commission reviewed and requested Council approval of this adjustment at its December 3, 2003 meeting. -BARRY G.RI'FF(TH� ALLEN F. SMOOT, A.A.E.
