AIRPORT USE AGREEMENT AND PERMIT APPLICATION INSURANCE
REQUIREMENT ADJUSTMENT FOR TAXICAB OPERATORS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve a insurance requirement adjustment
for taxicab operators as mandated and regulated by SunlineTransit Agency in order
to operate under approved regulations at the Palm Springs International Airport(PSP).
SUMMARY:
To establish a insurance requirement adjustment in accordance with Sunline Transit
Agency regulations for taxicab operators.
BACKGROUND:
SunlineTransit Agency regulates taxicab operators for the Palm Springs International
Airport and maintains that all operators carry a minimum of$300,000 general liability
insurance. Present airport use agreement permits call for $750,000 general liability
limits which will still be required from other commercial ground transportation
operators. An adjustment in this requirement is needed to bring about compliance with
Sunline regulations.
Sunline Transit Agency will continue to verify compliance measures with airport
regulations and report any discrepancies. Airport staff will keep current certificates; of
insurance on file as a standard operating procedure.
The Airport Commission reviewed and requested Council approval of this adjustment
at its December 3, 2003 meeting.
