SUBJECT: GRANITE CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 — NEW
CONCOURSE APRON RELATED

SUMMARY
This action would result in City Council approval of Change Order No. 3 with Granite
Construction Company for work related to the apron area around the New Concourse at
Palm Springs International Airport.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Approve Change Order No. 3 to Agreement No. 5353 with Granite Construction
Company in the amount of $225,917.29 for work related to the apron area
around the New Concourse subject to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
approval.
2. Authorize City Manager to execute all necessary documents
STAFF ANALYSIS:
Granite Construction Company has an open contract for the construction of airfield
improvements. A Change Order was negotiated with Granite for work related to the
airfield apron around the New Concourse. This work includes demolition, grading,
paving and bollard installation. Aircraft Shore Power / Charging Station installation for
Gates 12 through 20 was also included.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this Change Order in the amount of$225,917.29 is available as follows:
415-6600-56068 AIP 39 (previously approved grant overrun) $82,457.74
415-6500-56062 Airport Holdroom (excess available ) $143,459.55

The full amount of Change Order No. 3 will be included in the AIP 39 Grant Overrun
reimbursement application to the FAA. The FAA cannot guarantee approval of overrun
reimbursements in advance. The application for the overrun cannot be submitted until
the grant is complete and all work has been paid in full. At that time the overrun
approval is dependent upon FAA available funding.

The following changes are hereby made to the Contract Documents:
Install Pavement Transition Areas, Trench Pavement, including Demolition and Grading. Install
Protection Bollards for the New Regional Jet Concourse. Install the Aircraft Shore Power System at the
New Regional Jet Concourse.For details see Exhibit A attached.
Justification:
These items are required componenrs for the operation of the New Regional Jet Concourse.
CHANGE TO CONTRACT PRICE
Original Contract Price: $6,295,550.00
Current contract price, as adjusted by previous Change Orders: $6,428,398.36
The Contract Price due to this Change Order will be [increased][deereased] by S225,917.29. The new
Contract Price due to this Change Order will be: S 6,654,315.65
CHANGE TO CONTRACT TIME
The Contract Time will be [increased][deeteased]by 25 calendar days.
The date for completion of all work under the contract will be August 31,2007.

project,or as may otherwise be required under the terms of the Supplementary General Conditions of the
