CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODES - BIENNIAL UPDATES
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council direct each department, board, and/or commission which has
adopted a Conflict of Interest Code to review its code, and if a change is
necessitated by changed circumstances, to submit an amended code in
accordance with provisions of the Government Code.
BACKGROUND:
The Government code requires the City Council, no later than July 1 of each even
year, to take the initiative to notify every local agency within its reviewing
jurisdiction to make changes, as necessary, or to submit a report no later than
October 1, stating that no amendments are needed.
This will result in the fifth biennial update since the legislation was enacted in 1994,
and simply elevates each department/commission's priority for reviewing their
codes to meet current circumstances.

NO AMENDMENT IS NECESSARY.

I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT this Minute Order directing each department, board
and/or commission which has adopted a conflict of interest code to review its code,
and if a change is necessitated by changed circumstances, to submit an amended
conflict of interest code in accordance with subdivision (a) of Section 87302 and
Section 87303 to the City Council, or to submit a report no later than October 1,
2002, that no amendment is necessary, was adopted by the City Council of the
City of Palm Springs, in a meeting thereof held, on the 2nd day of June, 2004.
