Ready, City Manager Initiated by: Public Works and Engineering Department SUMMARY DMC Design Group prepared street, storm drain, and landscaping improvement plans for the Mesquite Avenue Widening Project (City Project 94-17) that have previously been constructed. As part of that project, the first phase of Storm Drain Line 22 was constructed. DMC Design Group is completing plans for the final extension of Storm Drain Line 22 to the Tahquitz Creek, and additional design services are necessary to complete the storm drain improvement plans. RECOMMENDATION: 1) Approve Amendment No. 5 to Agreement No. 4724 with DMC Design Group, Inc., for an additional amount of $11,100, for a total contract price of $185,725.00; and 2) Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: Since 2003, DMC Design Group, Inc., has been involved with the preparation of street, storm drain, and landscaping plans to construct the Mesquite Avenue Widening Project (City Project 94-17), which was successfully completed in 2006. Included as part of that project was construction of the first phase of Storm Drain Line 22, which takes stormwater runoff from Mesquite Avenue and ultimately conveys it to the Tahquitz Creek. Storm Drain Line 22 provides flood control protection for the City's wastewater treatment plant. This storm drain will be operated and maintained by Riverside County Flood Control District (RCFC). Item No. 2 . E. City Council Staff Report December 19, 2007- Page 2 Storm Drain Line 22 Extension (CP 07-15) DMC Design Group has continued their design efforts on the final phase of Storm Drain Line 22 with RCFC. However, RCFC has requested that a maintenance access road be provided at the outlet of the storm drain in the Tahquitz Creek. In order to design this access road, additional topographic surveying and design services are necessary. Staff has negotiated an amendment to the consultant's contract to include these additional services, and recommends its approval.
