Ready, City Manager Initiated by: Public Works and Engineering Department SUMMARY Agreement No. 5275 with Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc., approved by City Council on May 3, 2006, provides the City with engineering design services for the construction of various master-planned storm drain facilities in the City. Additional design work is necessary to complete the final design. A Contract Services Agreement Amendment has been prepared to facilitate the additional scope of work as part of this project. RECOMMENDATION: 1) Approve Amendment No. Two (2) to Agreement No. 5275 with Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc., in the amount of $19,035 for a total revised contract amount of $361,445 for the Palm Springs Storm Drain Line 6A, 8, 20C and 20CA, City Project No. 05-20; and 2) Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: On May 3, 2006, City Council awarded a contract services agreement to Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc., for the design of several master-planned storm drain facilities in the City: Line 6A (located in Sunrise Way extending from Vista Chino to Via Escuela), Line 8 (in Sunrise Way extending from Baristo Channel to Tahquitz Canyon Way), Line 20C (in El Cielo Road extending from Ramon Road to Baristo Road), and Line 20CA (in Baristo Road extending from El Cielo Road to Compadre Road). The plans for these storm drain facilities are being reviewed by Riverside County Flood Control District (RCFC), as RCFC will ultimately operate and maintain them. During the Item No. n . K . City Council Staff Report December 19, 2007- Page 2 Palm Springs Storm Drain Lines 6A, 8, 20C, 20CA(CP 05-20)—Contract Amendment No. 2 review of plans for Line 8, RCFC required alternative design analysis, including preparation of various plans showing different horizontal and vertical alignments for the storm drain in Sunrise Way. This additional design work required topographic surveying of the Baristo Channel, all of which is not included in the original scope of work. A contract services agreement Amendment has been prepared to add the additional topographic surveying and Line 8 design work, with an agreed fee of$19,035. The report will provide written dialog on the intent of the study, including methods, criteria, existing facilities' descriptions, hydrology calculations, hydrology map, preliminary hydraulic calculations, preliminary plan and profile for the proposed flood control improvements, design mitigation and a description of any necessary rights-of-way.
