TO: CITY COUNCIL
Subject: Tree Permit Update
thank Councilman Mills for his favorable comments after my last
remarks about saving trees from fraudulent removal and alternate ways to save
them. I do hope the city will follow up with this.
I had noted how I hate liars, for people to atone for theirs which was the
topic of best picture nominated "Atonement." When it was pointed out to me that
some of the facts about the Glendale tree removal I reported were incorrect with
what information I had at that time, I wish to clarify that.
What happened in Glendale was 17 or more trees were removed from a
home and owners fined around $350,000. It turns out they were indigenous to
the area, oak and another protected. They were asked to trim them back. They
were cut down with a huge fine. They got an attorney to defend the case and
turned out the landscaper did it wrong and not them, though I find it hard to
believe they would have been there and let it be cut down and not notice. The
fine was cancelled. The damage done.
was home when the tree was cut down right in front of my condo, ruining
the shade from the sun and blocked night-light forever, all without warning. Multi
owners research proved unjustified and lied to by manager Cindy Anderson and
the board, two who are attorneys, one a professional witness and two real estate

agents, leaving in my opinion exposed for further complaints.
In Palm Springs indeed, there can be owner's rights to what they want
to do with one's trees. On the other hand, if indigenous or have properties worth
saving, as I suggested there should be a way to review, require a permit to stop
unjustified tree cutting. I had been told none required that would maybe have
saved 23 removed without cause, in my opinion maybe malicious, affecting many
owners as well as our Casa de Oro grounds.
There could be a city listing of trees available for "adoption" and relocation
to both save them and have a mature tree in place and not wait years for fruition.
They are a valuable asset when we are now even more concerned by Global and
desert warming.
As far as liars, at our annual meeting this month I asked twice Cindy
Anderson and the board if there were any roof leaks or units with structural
damage they had found in the last four months. They said only the roof leaks. In
my opinion, she and they lied again. I welcome you to come visit and will show
you the damage done and still in progress.
