Tahquitz Canyon Way Suite OFC Palm Springs, California 92262-6966 Dcar Mr.Nolan: Thank you for your letter concerning the design of the future Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) at the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP). We have enjoyed working with you and your staff on the identification of a suitable site that meets or exceeds all stakeholder requirements- Through our collaborative efforts w, e have selected the site and the site survey report is nearing the completion of the signature process. —.-- ---- The-EnvirolumentW- ssessment-(] A).for-construction-and-operation-oLthextew AT.CT is -. -. underway to ensure any environmental impacts are understood and appropriately addressed. The DRAFT EA will be available for public review at the airport, public library and other public places deemed appropriate. A notice will also be placed in a local newspaper notifying the public that the document is available for their review and comment. We are also working on an Architect and Engineering(A&E)contract to begin work on site adaptation of our national standard ATCT design to meet the site specific conditions at the PSP airport. The FAA requires design reviews with the A&E firm, the first occurring at 35% completion, and the last just before the design is final. We encourage participation in these reviews by you and/or your designee and will have a better defined schedule once the A&E contract is awarded and the design process begins. The FAA is committed to building a modern ATCT that will serve the needs of the airport and the connnunity for many years to come. We are also committed to building a standard ATCT that helps the agency to contain design, construction, and operation costs for the life of the facility. It is our expectation that any aesthetic changes to the standard design requested by the City of Palm Springs will be funded by the City of Pahn Springs.
