Vista Chino, Palm Springs, CA 92262 Telephone (760) 323-2700 Date: July 30, 2008 To: City of Pahn Springs, City Council Members Steve Pougnet, Mayor Ginny Foat, Mayor Pro Tem Rick Hutcheson, Councilmember Chris Mills, Councilmember Lee Weigel, Councilmember. From: Ms. Lila Sossa Re: Center Road Medium and Public Entrance Access. Dear Mayor and City Council Members: This letter is to stipulate the hardship that has been placed upon my business, commercial property and that of my Business Tenants that are located at my commercial property known as Sossa's Plaza. We are located at Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino. Sossa's Plaza address is Vista Chino and the storefronts face Vista Chino. The hardship that I speak of was created by the installation of a center road medium on Vista Chino that restricts access to Sossa's Plaza; whereby the Public must drive approximately a quarter mile before having the ability to make a u-turn. This is unrealistic even for loyal customers of my business Sossa's Liquer and Market, as well as that of the business tenants at Sossa's Plaza. In addition, requests that were made to have a public access entrance placed on the Vista China (storefront) side and/or Gene Autry side of Sossa's Plaza was denied. My late Father established Sossa's in 1977 and we have been doing business in the City of Palm Springs since_ It is for this reason, that I am turning to you for help. It would be easy for me to follow the current business theme and sell my business but I enjoy doing business in Palm Springs and wish to continue to do so even through these challenging economic times. However, I cannot do it alone_ 70c9Su. w July 30,2003 City of Palm Sprinbs City Council Page Two. The challenges of the center road medium and not having public access from either Vista Chino and/or Gene Autry Trail to Sossa's Plaza has created zeal physical barriers fox any customer stream to flow to my business and that of my tenants whose businesses have also been met with financial hardship do to the lack of public access. Currently, the only access to Sossa's Plaza is from a side street entrance at Executive off of Vista Chino which creates a one way traffic flow. l ask that Sossa's Plaza be given the same consideration as other commercial properties located on Vista Chino that have two public road accesses (entrances)to their plazas. Thank you for your attention and responsorial action to my request. Respectfully, Us. Lila Sossa LS/pi CC: David H_Ready,Esq_, Ph-D.,City Managcr n Cr V ' yG/ VJSos r
