Ready, City Manager BY: Department of Aviation SUMMARY Over time, paint accumulates on the Airport runway markings and must be removed periodically by professional contractors specializing in this procedure. This action will authorize the work necessary to properly address the Airport's existing needs. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Award a purchase order contract for the removal of runway paint to Extreme Pressure Systems, Inc., in the amount of$29,853.00. 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: Maintaining the safety, integrity and functioning of Airport pavement is a top priority for the Airport. Anticipating the need for removal of accumulated paint residue on the main runway, the Airport budgeted for runway paint removal during FY 2008-09. The Procurement Division conducted a Request for Quotation for the work based on specifications provided by Airport staff. The City Procurement office performed an extensive outreach to contractors, and were able to locate only three (3) firms that perform this specific service. Quotations were solicited from all three, however only two of the firms responded. The low bid was from Extreme Pressure Systems Inc. at $29,853.00. Staff recommends the bid be awarded to Extreme Pressure Systems, Inc. FISCAL IMPACT: The $29,853 amount is within budget and available funds are in account 415-6050- 43200.
