These funds are distributed through Riverside County. Item No. 2 • H • City Council Staff Report December 17, 2008- Page 2 Authorize Expenditure Plan for SLEF Grant The City has been awarded $100,000 for Fiscal Year 2008-09. The SLESF Grant is a two year grant and can be spent for a variety of law enforcement expenditures as long as they are for "frontline municipal police services." It is proposed that the funds be used to purchase new computer components, technology and communications equipment, including hardware, program software, and other technology based equipment. The Chief of Police is recommending that the entire $100,000 be used for equipment purchases, which will be presented to Council through the procurement process. This request is to meet the requirements of SIB 823, enacted in April 2002. The bill amended Government Code Sections 30061 and 30063, requiring City Councils to appropriate the funds exclusively for law enforcement. FISCAL IMPACT: This will have no impact on the General Fund. There are no matching funds required. David G. Dominguez, Qhi-er 0P&lice Geoffrey Kiehl, Director of Finance and Treasurer David H.
