NEW BUSINESS
SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE HISTORIC SITE PRESERVATION BOARD

SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider making an appointment to the Historic Site Preservation
Board.
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint a Historic Site Preservation Board member to fill a vacancy for the un-expired
term ending June 30, 2005.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
Shelvin Rush resigned from the Historic Site Preservation Board on January 12, 2005.
On February 16, 2005 the City Council accepted the resignation and directed the City
Clerk to post a Notice of Vacancy.
On February 18, 2005, the City Clerk posted a Notice of Vacancy. The City Clerks
Department has not received any new applications. The Department has on file the
following applications:
Lee Bledsoe Sheryl Hamlin
Gregroy D. Cann Patrick Flynn Hennes
Brett Russell Chatelain Michael Reynolds
Ron Chespack Michael Robb
Philip Colavito Yvonne R. Schwartz
Thomas DeLeeuw Lori Ann Whittier
This 7-member Board was established to nominate and recommend to City Council
potential historic sites and the designation of historic districts within the City.
Responsibilities also include designating sites for plaques within the City. Staff support
is provided by the Planning and Building Department.
To be eligible for appointment to the board, an individual must have demonstrated
knowledge and interest in the cultural, socioeconomic, architectural or archaeological
history of the area, either through experience, training, education or occupation.
Additionally, members shall be bona fide residents and registered voters of the City, and
may not be an employee of the City, nor a current applicant for City employment.

FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
ALTERNATIVES:
This term expires June 30, 2005. The City Council may wish to consider leaving the
vacancy until the annual 2005 recruitment process and then in-turn make an
appointment for the term ending June 30, 2008.
