The City Council meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs. The purpose of the hearing is to provide citizens with an opportunity to offer comment on the proposed activities of the CDBG funds for this coming fiscal year. The City's Five-Year Consolidated Plan (ConPlan) integrates the application, planning and citizen participation for the CDBG program. The ConPlan was completed in May 2005 and will be updated every five years. A One-Year Annual Action Plan is required every year to describe the housing and community development policies, programs, and budget to be undertaken by the City using federal, state, local, and private funds for the next year. The proposed CDBG projects and budget will be submitted to the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) May 15, 2008. HUD's estimate for the City's Fiscal Year 2009-10 entitlement will be around $506,696. During the past year, CDBG funds have been used in such projects which are completed or nearing completion: • Public Facilities and Improvements — Fire Department CERT Supplies Container, DesertArc, Desert AIDS Project, Family YMCA of the Desert, Mizell Senior Center, and the Stroke Recovery Center; • Public Services — Court Appointed Special Advocates, Fair Housing Council, Jewish Family Services of San Diego, PS Police Athletic League, and Shelter From The Storm; and • Rehabilitation — Home Repair Programs. Response to this notice may be made verbally at the public hearing and/or in writing before the hearing. Written comments may be made to the City Council by letter (mail or hand delivery) to.- James Thompson, City Clerk 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way Palm Springs, CA 92262 Any challenge of the proposed in court may be limited to raising only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the City Clerk at, or prior to, the public hearing. (Government Code Section 65009[b][21). An opportunity will be given at said hearings for all interested persons to be heard.
