SUBJECT: PROPOSED FEE WAIVER FOR EASTER BOWL TENNIS
TOURNAMENT
FROM: David H. Ready, City Manager
BY: Department of Parks and Recreation
SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider waiving tennis court rental fees at Ruth Hardy Park in the
amount of $480 for the 38th Easter Bowl USTA Junior National Tennis Tournament
practice session held on Sunday, April 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Minute Order No. Approving waiver of tennis court rental fees at Ruth
Hardy Park in the amount of$480 for the 38 Easter Bowl USTA Junior National Tennis
Tournament practice session on Sunday, April 10, from 11:00 a. m. to 7:00 p.m.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
City Manager and staff recommend that the City Council not waive any fees due to the
City's current budget deficit.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The Easter Bowl promoter, Seena Hamilton & Associates, Inc., requested use of six
tennis courts at Ruth Hardy Park on Sunday, April 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a
tournament practice session. The amount of rental fees is $480, based upon the $10-
per-hour rental rate of the six courts for eight hours.
At its March 9 meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission voted 6/2 to recommend
that this rental fee be waived.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Since the rental of tennis courts is a revenue source for the City, the loss would be an
amount of$480 if this waiver is approved by City Council.
