Longtime activist in the GLBT community and other civil amd himan rights campaigns.Political and non-profit
consutant for candidates,GLBT non-profit organizations,and active participant in school district committees.
Describe your knowledge of the functions,regulations and procedures of the commission which you would like to serve.
The purpose is to address the concerns of residents in regards to human rights violations.More importantly,to
develop programs and materials to educate our citizens on the need and importance of protecting human rights
for all of our residents,
What specific attitudes,skills and expertise do you think you have to enhance the work of the commission?
An in-depth knowledge of human rights issues not only for the GLBT community but for minority communities
as well.I am a very good communicator and wrok well with others on boards and committee type settings.
What specific issues or problems face the board/commission?Do you have any suggestions to address those issues or
problems?
Lack of public awareness.I believe the current board has done much better at this,but we can go further with
more marketing and community exposure.We also need to ensure that the board works well together.
Additional qualifications for the Rent Control Commission are:
a) applicant may not be a landolord or tenant subject to the rent control ordinance;
b) must submit a verified statement as to present holdings and interests in real property in the City.
