CONSENT CALENDAR
SUBJECT: RESIGNATION OF GARY S. LUEDERS FROM THE PALM SPRINGS
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT COMMISSION.

SUMMARY:
The City Council will accept the resignation of Gary Lueders from the Palm Springs
International Airport Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept with regret the resignation of Gary S. Lueders from the Palm Springs
Airport Commission.
2. Direct the City Clerk to provide for the City Council to fill the vacancy during the
2005 annual recruitment process.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
On May 11, 2005 the City Clerk received a letter of resignation from Palm Springs
International Airport Commissioner Gary Lueders.
Commissioner Lueders term expires June 30, 2007. Staff recommends that the City
Council fill the mid-term vacancy during the 2005 annual recruitment process.
Government Code Section 54974 requires a Notice of Vacancy be posted in the office
of the City Clerk and the public library with the largest service population within its
jurisdiction. Appointment to the Board shall not be made by the City Council for at least
10 working days after the posting of the notice by the City Clerk.
Palm Springs Municipal Code Section 2.04.060 requires the Notice shall be posted in
three public places at least ten days before the appointment.
The City Clerk posted a Notice of Vacancy on May 13, 2005.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.

Dear Mr. Thompson,
I have recently relocated to Rancho Mirage and therefore must tender my
resignation from the Palm Springs International Airport Commission and the
General Plan Steering Committee effective this date.
It has been a real pleasure to serve the City of Palm Springs in this capacity and
I express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Mayor Oden and the City
Council for their trust in me.
Please extend my best wishes to the airport staff, the planning department staff,
and my colleagues on the commission and committee. I have enjoyed working
with all of them.
