UNFINISHED BUSINESS
SUBJECT: PROPOSED RESOLUTION ADOPTING A CITY OF PALM
SPRINGS VISION STATEMENT

SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider a resolution adopting a City of Palm Springs Vision
Statement.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PALM SPRINGS ADOPTING A CITY OF PALM SPRINGS VISION
STATEMENT."
STAFF ANALYSIS:
At its January 26, 2005 Study Session the City Council discussed and directed the City
Council subcommittee and staff to make modifications to the City of Palm Springs draft
vision statement.
In late March, the City Manager distributed a revised statement incorporating the
modifications requested by the City Council.
The draft vision statement currently reads:
Palm Springs aspires to be a unique world class desert community, where residents
and visitors enjoy our high quality of life and a relaxing experience. We desire to
balance our cultural and historical resources with responsible, sustainable economic
growth and to enhance our natural desert beauty. We are committed to providing
responsive, friendly and efficient customer service in an environment that fosters unity
among all our citizens.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS ADOPTING A CITY OF PALM SPRINGS
VISION STATEMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council held visioning sessions with staff, community
members, businesses and other stakeholders in the City of Palm Springs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt a Vision Statement to guide the
City Council, Commissions, staff and further `brand' the City of Palm Springs;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of Palm Springs Vision Statement is to read as follows:
Palm Springs aspires to be a unique world class desert community, where residents
and visitors enjoy our high quality of life and a relaxing experience. We desire to
balance our cultural and historical resources with responsible, sustainable economic
growth and to enhance our natural desert beauty. We are committed to providing
responsive, friendly and efficient customer service in an environment that fosters unity
among all our citizens.
