Tonight, if there is one thing we would like to get across to you, it is this:
For every infrastructure or development problem we face, there is a solution.
"Common Ground" has a wealth of research available to the city and to developers.
Only Mr. Pougnet has asked for any information so far. It is time for Staff and the
Planning Commission to either, do the research themselves, or to phone us for websites
and materials. Solar projects that have been proposed have never been acted upon. We
have a financing mechanism to allow for cost-free solar installation for anyone.
The deadly health hazards of reckless mass-grading are not being addressed.
Soils must be tested for Valley Fever fungus. Grid-pattern Methodology is consistent
with those used for research and testing for endangered or threatened species. They are
commonly used for Biological Resource tracking and mapping. This must be part of
required EIRs.
Fungus threat can be neutralized by microbial products which are commercially
available. It can also be encapsulated by a number of biodegradable soil sealants. This
keeps down the equally deadly PM10 that is the delivery system for the fungus, and
other respiratory diseases. It is now at "Death Dust" proportions. We are ruining our air,
ruining our water, and we are contributing to global warminq and climate change. What
are you doing about it?And have you any clue as to how much this neglect costs?
Instead of sucking us dry with water application, let's make it healthier and safer for
building to proceed. Deaths and illnesses are escalating, particularly amongst Indians
and Latinos, and you must exercise your responsibility to protect public health and
safety. You are building us to death!
Public outreach and education are essential. Where is the Desert Sun when you need
them? We'd like you to learn something new every day. And if citizens have a concern,
SHOW UP. Be sure, yourself, that we conserve monies and preserve properties. That's
how democracy works. Ben Franklin said, "Silence is Sedition", and so it is.
Instead of doing all you can to avoid your responsibilities, do all you can to resolve these
concerns. Things do not get better when ignored. They get worse. Instead of promoting
humongous projects, which impact our National Monuments, and obliterate our views,
and our style, with hugely impacting and out-of-place elements, and very dangerous
destabilization of the hillsides, learn to live lightly on the land, and to r fit from it.
If you learn only one thing, tonight, let it be this:
YOU CANNOT EAT, DRINK,OR BREATHE, MONEY.
