CONSENT CALENDAR
SUBJECT: RESIGNATION OF KENNETH CASSADY FROM THE HISTORIC SITE
PRESERVATION BOARD.

SUMMARY:
The City Council will accept the resignation of Kenneth Cassady from the Historic Site
Preservation Board.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept with regret the resignation of Kenneth Cassady from the Historic Site
Preservation Board.
2. Direct the City Clerk to provide for the City Council to fill the vacancy during the
2005 annual recruitment process.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
On May 17, 2005 the City Clerk received a letter of resignation from Historic Site
Preservation Boardmember Kenneth Cassady effective July 12, 2005.
Boardmember Cassady's term expires June 30, 2007. Staff recommends that the City
Council fill the mid-term vacancy during the 2005 annual recruitment process.
Government Code Section 54974 requires a Notice of Vacancy be posted in the office
of the City Clerk and the public library with the largest service population within its
jurisdiction. Appointment to the Board shall not be made by the City Council for at least
10 working days after the posting of the notice by the City Clerk.
Palm Springs Municipal Code Section 2.04.060 requires the Notice shall be posted in
three public places at least ten days before the appointment.
The City Clerk posted a Notice of Vacancy on May 20, 2005.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.

Subject: Resignation from HSPB
Please accept my resignation from my position as board member of the Palm Springs Historic
Site Preservation Board. As I am relocating to San Francisco in July, I will no longer be
a resident of Palm Springs and therefore unable to continue to serve on the board.
The last meeting I will be available for is July 12, 2005. I realize the committee is
about to begin interviewing candidates to fill the open board positions, so I wanted to
give you as much notice as possible to allow them to fill my position as well.
Thank you very much for the honor and opportunity to serve this last year.
