Our current contractual amount is $20,000 per calendar year. Our contract provides the following: I • First priority on room nights if the production crew wants to film in the Coachella Valley • Opportunity to promote and assist every production crew that films in Palm Springs • Full page ad in the IEFC Production Guide("The Reel Palm Springs") Attendance at 2 location scout shows per year in Los Angeles • Ad and attendance for 4 people at the annual California On-Location Awards(approx. 500 industry professionals attend each year including producers, directors, and location scouts) • Listing in the L.A. 411 (information directory for the film industry) • Annual Familiarization Trip with Location Scouts • PSBT staff member on the Coachella Valley Film Alliance • Prominent presence on the IEFC's website • On-location digital scouting for production companies, as required • Supply the PS Bureau of Tourism with quarterly and yearly activity reports • Interaction with the regional media as needed to promote film in the area • The IEFC works jointly with the Bureau staff to generate premiere screenings The Inland Empire in total had approx. 1830 production days. That means District 4 (Palm Springs) got a 35-40% share of ALL filming in the region. Attached is a table that shows the financial impact that productions coming into Palm Springs bring as a result of our contract with the IEFC. The formula that is used was designed by the State Film Office and is audited by KPMG-Pete Marwick. It is based on crew size, length of stay, crew services hired, and type of production. Additionally, many services are used during filming (i.e. security services, catering, transportation, equipment rentals, etc.). Also, crew members that are provided accommodations usually get a per diem, which is almost always spent locally(i.e. bars, restaurants, grocery stores, entertaimnent, shopping, etc.). As a direct result of the production crews filming in Palm Springs, there is a promotional value associated with selling Palm Springs as a resort destination. Miss Teen USA for example, produced a 7 minute travelogue on the begimiing of the primetime network broadcast which had a media value of approx. $1.4 million (approx. $200,000 x 7 minute).777 N.Palm Canyon Drive,Suite 201,Palm S 11prings,CA 92262 e. 14 61/z®¢t.; rhone760-778-8+15 • 300-927-7256 o 5,760-52)-3021 &Lg,swm-moo www.palm-bprings.org 10 y1,1_51.+ operated and Managed by 5M6 i i i The film industry is largely based on relationships and how effective your destination is in making the experience of filming as problem free as possible. Our contractual relationship with the Inland Empire Film Commission is now in its 3rd year. As our relationships with the industry have become more solidified over the years through the IEFC, we are seeing a growing interest from the Hollywood Studios for more commercials, episodics, and now feature films. The fruits of all of our hard work are paying off.Next month, the feature film "Reunion"will be giving the Palm Mountain Resort 500 room night's mid-week in June. This was our ultimate goal. Lois Ware, The City of Palm Springs Film Permit Officer and I work very closely together on the productions that come into Palm Springs and we both attend the Coachella Valley Film Alliance meetings held at the Leisure Center. I wanted to make sure you had all of the information on how the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism works with the IEFC and with the City Permit Officer. We look forward to bringing more productions to the City of Palm Springs and in continuing to build the revenue it brings through the hotel room nights and in turn to build the retail sales tax, and through the hiring of local production services. Our return on investment was nearly 1,000 times what we invested.
