Good Evening Mayor( den and City Council members:
For the viewing public, my name is Tim Albert. I am delighted to be in front of
you this evening as your new Airport Commissioner.
I assume that you were as shocked as I was over the June 26th issue of our
Desert Sun. The front page of this issue highlighted "Storm Clouds Brewing" at
our airport.
WOW, with news like that I personally cannot think of a better time to be
appointed by my city to this post. Now, I have the ability to actually fully
articulate a point of view. It is a huge step from the sidelines with a clock ticking
out only 3 minutes of Public Comment and with no ability to fully debate and
educate when asked questions by the commissioners.
To the citizens of this valley and in particular to the residents of Palm Springs:
I Pledge — in accordance with the city's directives as spelled out in its
Commissioner's Handbook, that I will serve "to help the council decide on the
best policies for the city, with their efforts directed to making Palm Springs a
good place in which to live."
I Pledge—to follow the guidance of Resolution 18803 —that being, I will seek
community input through personal contact, I will work with various special interest
groups and I will advocate public hearings be held when appropriate before final
action is taken; something that I've observed has been lacking
I Pledge —to abide by the Palm Springs Municipal Code related to our duties
—that being, I will seek particular emphasis on getting local citizens to fIY from
Palm Springs. I will not support nor can I; as you are well aware and by code,
support any effort by the commission to turn away our citizens that are
discriminately labeled "transients" in exchange for a bottom line item on a budget
that clearly violates our Duties and Powers as set in the City Code.
It is my Hope —that during this transfer of membership composition on the
Airport Commission; that we can transcend our differences and begin to embrace
the airport's mission statement:

Dear Mr. Mayor, MayorPro Tern and Council members:
It is after this 4th of July that we need to step back and review the rather
distressing comments at a recent council meeting by Major Pro Tern Michael McCullough.
Quite a few of us involved with the recent B and C campaign applied for positions on various city
commissions. I did not expect to be picked for several obvious reasons, being new to the community and
not as knowledgeable on many key local issues (although often a
fresh view is helpful). But in the comments, which circumvented naming Roxann Ploss as the obvious
person cited and excluded from either of the two commissions she applied for, it appears that this city, and
sorry to say much of America now, is focused on the status quo, or don't rock the boat. Let the
problems , questionable operations and such continue, unabated.
It is not just here, sorry to say, but everywhere. If it were not for the few, and those moreoutspoken as Ms
Ploss in the past, we would not be like citizens saying "No" to dictatorial powers long ago, that this 4th of
July would not be anational holiday. It would be instead the birthday for Queen Elizabeth II.
Being a ship expert, I did not refer to her as QE2, and rock her royal boat (they sold the yacht).
Wish that we could work together for truly diverse views so that wrongs can be righted. That we all in
Palm Springs could just get along and make this a better, rather than bitter community to seems to in many
ways continue to evolve.
Always with best regards,
Charles Ira Sachs
