HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/7/2010 - STAFF REPORTS - 2.J. p�PALMS10 0 u` sn lItIF0 0� CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT DATE: July 7, 2010 CONSENT AGENDA SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF $60,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY ANTI-TERRORISM APPROVAL AUTHORITY (ATTA) TO FUND THE PURCHASE OF TEN (10) MOBILE RADIOS FOR THE EASTERN RIVERSIDE COUNTY INTEROPERABLE COMMUNICATION AGENCY (ERICA) TO BE USED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. FROM: David Ready, City Manager BY: Palm Springs Police Department SUMMARY It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept $60,000 in Riverside County Fire Office of Emergency Services Anti-Terrorism Approval Authority grant funding for the Police Department to purchase ten (10) mobile radios to participate in the multi-agency ERICA Radio System. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Accept $60,000 in grant funding from ATTA for this project. 2. Authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: The City is a member of the Eastern Riverside County Interoperable Communication Authority (ERICA) and solicited Homeland Security Grant funding through ATTA, and was awarded $60,000 to assist us in this project. Acceptance of this grant funding will reduce the amount necessary from the general fund to purchase the required mobile radio equipment needed to participate in the ERICA Radio System. ITEM NO.
