A L M sA� G v u+ RPORAI O` 'gOFOR City Council Staff Re ort Date: September 8, 2010 CONSENT CALENDAR Subject: APPROVAL OF GRANT DEEDS TO CONVEY RIGHTS-OF-WAY TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATED TO THE INDIAN CANYON DRIVE/INTERSTATE 10 INTERCHANGE, CITY PROJECT 00-14 From: David H. Ready, City Manager Initiated by: Public Works and Engineering Department SUMMARY The City completed the acquisition of all required rights-of-way for the Indian Canyon Drive/Interstate 10 Interchange (City Project 00-14). Some of the rights-of-way acquired by the City will ultimately become part of the state freeway right-of-way for Interstate 10, and must be conveyed to the state. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to execute all Grant Deeds. STAFF ANALYSIS: On October 15,. 2008, the City Council adopted a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to approve any and all agreements for the acquisition of permanent right-of- way or temporary easements for the Indian Canyon Drive/Interstate 10 Interchange, City Project No. 00-14. This project involved acquiring right-of-way from 29 different parcels owned by 15 different property owners. The cost to acquire the right-of-way was paid for by a $3,383,000 state Regional Improvement Plan (RIP) allocation for this project. Several of the parcels the City has acquired will ultimately become part of the state freeway right-of-way for Interstate 10, and must be conveyed to the state. Grant Deeds have been prepared to convey these parcels of rights-of-way from the City to the state and must be executed. It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute these Grant Deeds to complete the right-of-way process for the Indian Canyon Drive/Interstate 10 Interchange project.
