Dear Ms. Craig:
As you may be aware, the City of Palm Springs is experiencing significant budget
challenges. In fact, the economic crisis facing our community, the Coachella
Valley, and the entire nation is demanding a comprehensive restructuring of how
we provide City services.
As we continue working to reduce all City expenses, 1 am writing to request that
the Desert Healthcare District assist the City of Palm Springs by reducing the
burden of the $21,798 annual contract to maintain the Wellness Park for the next
two years.
This much used park, so close in proximity to Desert Regional Medical Center, is
a huge asset to the Palm Springs community — a place where patients and
residents visit for both healing and pure enjoyment. Over the years, the City has
enjoyed a strong i-elationship with Desert Healthcare District, participating in a
host of important partnerships benefiting the health and wellness of our
residents. However during these difficult economic times with the community
need for the Wellness Park more vital than ever, we respectfully request your
consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
David H. Rea , , Ph. D.
