1674, AMENDING PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION
2.22.020(B), REGARDING CERTAIN QUALIFICATIONS FOR VILLAGEFEST
BOARD MEMBERS

SUMMARY:
The City Council will consider adoption of Ordinance No. 1674.
RECOMMENDATION:
Waive further reading and adopt Ordinance No. 1674, "AN ORDINANCE OF CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS AMENDING SECTION 2.22.020(B), REGARDING CERTAIN
QUALIFICATIONS FOR VILLAGEFEST BOARD MEMBERS."
STAFF ANALYSIS:
At its October 5, 2005, meeting the City Council introduced on first reading the proposed
ordinance.
This report provides for the City Council to waive further reading and adopt the ordinance.
The ordinance shall be effective 30-days from adoption.

ORDINANCE NO. 1674
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION
2.22.020 OF THE PALM SPRINGS MUNICIPAL CODE,
RELATING TO QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP ON
THE VILLAGEFEST BOARD.
City Attorney Summary
The Municipal Code currently establishes minimum
qualifications for membership on the VillageFest
Board. The Code specifically requires that: (1) three
members of the Board be current retail merchants or
possess significant retail experience, (2) one
member be a retail merchant with experience in the
jewelry business, and (3) one member represent the
community wide tourism industry. This ordinance
modifies the requirements so that the members are
required to be current or experienced retail merchant
or, in the alternative, one member may be a
representative of the community wide tourism
industry.
The City Council of the City of Palm Springs ordains:
Section 1. Subsection (b) of Section 2.22.020 of the Palm Springs Municipal
Code is amended to read:
(b) Members of the board shall be either current retail merchants or have
significant retail experience, or, in the alternative, one member may be a
representative of the community-wide tourism industry.
Section 2. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same, or the summary
thereof, to be published and posted pursuant to the provisions of law and this
Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS DAY OF 2005.
