SUBJECT: REHABILITATION OF COMMUTER APRON, CITY PROJECT 2005-11.

SUMMARY
It is recommended that the City Council accept the lowest bid and authorize the City
Manager to execute the construction contract in a form acceptable to City Attorney and
the FAA for Rehabilitation of Commuter Apron, City Project 2005-11(AIP 3-06-0181-39).
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Approve Minute Order No. to award a construction contract for the
REHABILITATION OF COMMUTER APRON, City Project 2005-11 (AIP 3-06-
0181-39) to Granite Construction at P.O. Box 50085, Watsonville, CA in the
amount of$2,178,000, subject to FAA approval.
2. Authorize the City Manager to execute a construction contract in a form
acceptable to the City Attorney and the FAA for Rehabilitation of Commuter
Apron, City Project 2005-11(AIP 3-06-0181-39).
STAFF ANALYSIS:
The rehabilitation of the Commuter Apron project received two bids. The bid results
were as follows:
- Granite Construction in the amount of$2,178,000, and
- Road Builders in the amount of $2,366,260.
It is recommended to accept Granite Construction as the lowest bidder for the
Rehabilitation of the Commuter Apron project, subject to FAA approval.

Rehabilitation of Commuter Apron
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding will be done through AIP grant 39 from the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA), which will cover 95% of the cost. This grant was accepted by the City on
September 7, 2005 in the amount of$2,259,100, and covers construction and
engineering. The City's local match share is $118,900 and is planned to be funded from
the Airport fund's Retain Earnings Account with Council approval.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Minute Order, awarding
to Granite Construction, the construction contract for
the rehabilitation of commuter apron, City Project No.
2005-11, AIP 3-06-0181-39, in the amount of
$2,178,000, subject to Federal Aviation Administration
was adopted by the City Council of the City of Palm
Springs, California, in a meeting was held on the 19th
day of October, 2005.
