Administrative Appeals Board There are no new applicants and 1 incumbent who is eligible to reapply and has not done so. Airport Commission We have 4 new applicants, 1 incumbent is not eligible to reapply, and only 1 of the 2 eligible incumbents reapplied. Historic Site Preservation Board We have 1 new applicant and 2 incumbents who are eligible to reapply and have reapplied. Human Rights Commission We have 7 new applicants and 3 incumbents who are eligible to reapply; however, only 1 has done so. In addition,we have 1 vacancy on this Commission. Library Board We have 1 new applicant and 1 incumbent who is eligible to reapply and has not done so. Parks and Recreation Commission We have no new applicants and 3 incumbents who are eligible to reapply; however, only 1 has done so. Personnel Board We have no new applicants and 1 incumbent who is eligible to reapply and has not done so. Planning Commission We have 1 new applicant and 2 incumbents who are eligible to reapply and have reapplied. In addition, we have 1 vacancy on this Commission. Public Arts Commission We have 2 new applicants and 2 incumbents who are eligible to reapply and have not done so. In addition, we have 1 vacancy on this Commission. Rent Review Commission �� We have 2 new applicants and 5 vacancies on this Commission, n . cn N L.-y Sustainability Commission We have 1 new applicant and 4 incumbents who are eligible to reapply; however, only 3 have reapplied. In addition, we have 1 vacancy on this Commission. Tramway Board (not a City Commission) We have no new applicants and 2 incumbents are eligible to reapply and 1 has reapplied. On 3/31/11 we received a letter on behalf of the Mt. San Jacinto Winter Park Authority advising us both incumbents are interested in being reappointed. The two appointments are not up until 09/30/11 and we will advertise this appointment later, but thought it would be best to establish the City Council Subcommittee at this time. VillageFest Board We have 1 new applicant and 2 incumbents who are eligible to reapply and 1 has reapplied. N R 4RATFa cQ<,FORN,P City Council Staff Report DATE: APRIL 6, 2011 NEW BUSINESS SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF CITY COUNCIL SUBCOMMITTEES TO SCREEN COMMISSION AND BOARD APPLICATIONS, TO DETERMINE QUALIFIED APPLICANTS AS PART OF THE 2011 ANNUAL RECRUITMENT OF CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. Direct the City Clerk to provide for the City Council as whole, to participate in the screening and interview of Applicants for the Planning Commission and the Historic Site Preservation Board. 2. Appoint two-member City Council Subcommittees to screen and interview Applicants for the following Commission and Boards: Administrative Appeals Board Personnel Board Airport Commission Public Arts Commission Human Rights Commission Rent Review Commission Library Board of Trustees Sustainability Commission Parks and Recreation Commission VillageFest Board Tramway Board (non-City Commission) City staff established the deadline to file as March 31, 2011; at the meeting staff will compile additional information on the number of applicants per Commission/Board to assist in determining the amount of time required to interview for each Subcommittee.
