Ready, City Manager FROM: Convention Center Project Team RECOMMENDATION: 1. It is recommended that City Manager award Trade Bid #40 for Amado Road Cross Gutter Installation to Contreras Construction for the convention center project in the amount of $30,392 utilizing authority granted by City Council by Resolution No. 20766 dated October 15, 2003. STAFF ANALYSIS: Under the informal bidding procedures for public construction authorized by Municipal. Code Section 7.03.030, the Convention Center project team competed the requirement for Trade Bid 40, Amado Road Cross Gutter Installation. 'Two firms bid on the project as follows: Contreras Construction $30,392 Tri-Star Construction $36,450 Bids were solicited from three additional trade contractors, but they declined to bid. 'These firms indicated that the project was too small, or that they were too busy with other projects. 'The City Council, via Resolution No. 20766 dated October 15, 2003, grants authority to the City Manager to award trade bids under $100,000. The Project Team recommends the City Manager award Trade Bid 40 to Contreras Construction in the amount of$30,392. Item No. 2 . f ` .
