HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/16/2005 - STAFF REPORTS (23) I moved here in May 2005 from Seattle and began work the following Monday,
expecting to ride a bus service comparable to what I had experienced for 15 years in the
NW. My employer is located about 4 miles from my current residence on N Biskra, off
Sunrise and Francis. The closest bus stop is I mile away on Vista Chino and Sunrise,
which is served by the# 24 route only every 90 minutes and the first 4 or 5 coaches on
the I I I route headed to N Palm Canyon and Stevens. Because of the infrequency/timing
of service- although I only live 4 miles away- I am forced to arrive at work 1- 1 '/2 hours
early or be at least 30 minutes late and that's only if both the#24 and 111 are running on
time. In the evening the situation is even worse- I do not get home until nearly 8:00 pm,
after catching the# 111 route headed north ,arriving at Desert Memorial Hospital about
6:04pm, missing the # 24 by about 15 minutes. I then have a 75 minute wait or a 2+mile
walk! I believe the service frequency should be improved and better timed to coincide
with the# 111 schedule and perhaps the #24 route could instead of turning left off
Sunrise onto Vista Chino, could instead head north on Sunrise to Racquet Club and then
turn left, turning left again on Caballeros and continuing on to its destination at Desert
Memorial and on to Gateway. I was interviewed by KMIR 6 shortly after I moved
here and would gladly volunteer to work with any agency or group working to solve the
public transportation challenges. Thanks for your time and attention. Joan Schon
