SUBJECT: PROPOSED RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE
NOVEMBER 8, 2005 REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION

SUMMARY
Pursuant to California Elections Code the City Council shall adopt a resolution declaring
the result of the November 8, 2005 Regular Municipal Election.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA RECITING THE FACT OF THE REGULAR
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2005 DECLARING THE RESULT
AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW."
STAFF ANALYSIS:
At the direction of the City Clerk, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters canvassed
the returns of the November 8, 2005 Regular Municipal Election, pursuant to Resolution
No. 21322. The Registrar of Voters has provided a Certification to the Results and
Canvass of the Election Returns.
Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10263 the City Council shall adopt a
Resolution declaring the results of the election.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA RECITING THE FACT OF
THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON
NOVEMBER 8, 2005 DECLARING THE RESULT AND
SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, a Regular Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of
Palm Springs, California, on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form and manner as
provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers
were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the
votes cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form
and manner as required by the provisions of the laws of the State of California, and the
Charter of the City of Palm Springs; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 21322 and Resolution No. 21323
adopted by the City Council on June 29, 2005, the Riverside County Registrar of Voters,
at the direction of the City Clerk of the City of Palm Springs, canvassed the returns of
the election and has certified the results to the City Council. The results are attached to
this resolution as Exhibit A.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PALM SPRINGS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the whole number of ballots cast in the precincts except absent voter
ballots was 6,273. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was
6,467, making a total of 12,740 ballots cast in the City.
SECTION 2. That the Regular Municipal Election was held for the purpose of electing
two-members to the office of Member of the Palm Springs City Council.
SECTION 3. That the names of persons voted for at the election for the office of
Member of the Palm Springs City Council for the term ending December, 2009 are as
follows:
Carlos H. Cueva
Patricia "Trisha" Sanders
Roxann Ploss
Tom Tucker
Christopher "Chris" Mills
Ginny Foat
John Williams
SECTION 4. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes
for each qualified candidate are attached as Exhibit A.

SECTION 5. The City Council declares and determines that: Ginny Foat and
Christopher "Chris" Mills were elected to the office of Member of the Palm Springs City
Council for the term ending December, 2009,
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council a statement of
the results of the election, showing:
a. The whole number of votes cast in the City;
b. The qualified candidates voted upon;
C. The number of votes given at each precinct for each qualified candidate;
d. The number of votes given in the City for each qualified candidate.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and enter
it into the book of original resolutions.
