SUBJECT: APPOINT A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL AS A COMMISSIONER
AND ALTERNATE TO THE COACHELLA VALLEY CONSERVATION
COMMISSION (CVCC)

SUMMARY
The City Council will consider appointing a commissioner and an alternate to the
Coachella Valley Conservation Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint a member of the City Council as the City's representative commissioner and an
alternate member to the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
On December 14, 2005 the City Council approved Minute Order No. 7787 a Joint
Powers Agreement creating the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission with the
City of Cathedral City, City of Coachella, City of Desert Hot Springs, City of Indian
Wells, City of Indio, City of La Quinta, City of Palm Desert, City of Rancho Mirage,
County of Riverside, Coachella Valley Water District and Imperial Irrigation District.
Pursuant to Article 7 of the Joint Powers Agreement the City of Palm Springs shall
appoint a current member of the governing body as a Commissioner to the CVCC. The
Commissioner shall service at the pleasure of the City Council and may be removed at
any time.
Additionally the City can appoint an alternate. In the absence of the Commissioner, the
alternate shall have
the same authority and power as the Commissioner.
