I UBJECT: TRIBAL SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR
CAPITAL FIRE EQUIPMENT
FROM: David H. Ready, City Manager
BY: Department of Finance and Treasury and the Fire Department
SUMMARY
The City, earlier this fiscal year, received funding from the Tribal Special Distribution
Fund for certain Fire capital equipment (including a paramedic unit) that was not
included in the original budget. The proposed budget amendment will allow the Fire
Department to proceed with ordering the equipment approved to be purchased using
the Tribal Special Distribution Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
'THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE
2005-06 FISCAL YEAR" (TO INCREASE TRIBAL SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND BY
$191,707)
STAFF ANALYSIS:
'The Tribal Special Distribution Fund was established several years ago to help offset
some of the impacts of Tribal Gaming. This is the second year of the program. Almost
all of the funding for Fiscal Year 2005/06 was used to the cover costs of police and fire
personnel. At the time the budget was put together, the City had not received final
approval to purchase certain capital items that had been submitted to the Tribe and
Special Distribution Committee in 2005. Consequently, these items were not included
in the current year budget when it was adopted by the City Council on June 8, 2005.
The City has since received funding to purchase certain fire capital equipment including
a brand new paramedic unit.
