Fiscal Year 2011-2012 for the City's two Co-Generation Plants and Facilities.
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize issuance of additional funds to the Nalco blanket purchase order# 12-0043 for
the as-needed purchase of Chemicals to treat and replenish the chilled water system in
an amount not-to-exceed $75,000.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
Staff is seeking authorization from the City Council to issue additional funds to purchase
order #12-0043 for an as-needed purchase of Chemical (Trac101 used for corrosion
protection) from Nalco by the Facilities Maintenance Division in an amount up to
$75,000 for the Cogen plants and facilities. Total blanket purchase order amount will be
$140,000.
The chemical is used to prevent corrosion in the metal piping and HVAC Equipment.
The total volume that is treated is 600,000 gallons of water that is piped from the co-gen
plants to outlying city facilities. Due to an under ground piping that failed it was depleted
in the subsequent leak. These additional funds are needed to replenish chemicals lost
