Ready, City Manager BY: Department of Parks and Recreation SUMMARY The requested amendment to the current fiscal year Allocated and Compensation Plan adds two (2) Lifeguard positions for the city pool to ensure continued coverage and safety of our pool users. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Adopt Resolution No. "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE ALLOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2011-12, ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 22925" and; 2. Adopt Resolution No. , "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE 2011-2012 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET." 3. Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. STAFF ANALYSIS: The requested amendment to the current fiscal year Allocated and Compensation Plan adds two (2) Lifeguard positions for the city pool to ensure continued coverage and safety of our pool users. Historically this coverage had been provided with temporary staff on a seasonal basis, however, with year round pool hours and added special events it has become increasingly challenging to ensure coverage and safety requirements are maintained. This change will eliminate the need for temporary staff except during some weekends and extended summer hours and provide for a more reliable and trained staff to assist pool users and maintain safety levels. ITEM NO. City Council Staff Report December 14 2011 —Page 2 2010-11 Allocated Position Plan—Amendment 2 FISCAL IMPACT: Currently, the positions are funded in the temporary salary line item of the current FY budget. It is estimated this action will cost an additional $17,900.00 to the current FY budget. Vicki Oltean, Director Thomas J. Wils Department of Parks and Recreation Assistant City Manager David H.
