HomeMy WebLinkAbout23144 RESOLUTION NO. 23144 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, NAMING THE BELARDO BRIDGE, "THE CHAIRMAN RICHARD M. MILANOVICH MEMORIAL BRIDGE." WHEREAS, the late Chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Richard M. Milanovich, was one of the City's most respected community leaders, beloved by the citizens of Palm Springs for his big heart and generosity; and WHEREAS, for nearly 30 years, Chairman Milanovich led the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians as they grew to become an important business and cultural leader in Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, the State of California, and the nation; and WHEREAS, the much anticipated Belardo Road Bridge, in the planning, design, and development stages for over 20 years, will connect the heart of downtown to the Tribe's Tahquitz Canyon Trails and Visitor Center, and was one of the projects closest to Chairman Milanovich's heart. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. In honor of the late Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribal Chairman Richard M. Milanovich, the City Council of the City of Palm Springs hereby designates the name of the Belardo Bridge to be "The Chairman Richard M. Milanovich Memorial Bridge."
