C'941FOIL CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT
DATE: May 3, 2006 Consent Agenda
SUBJECT: CONVENTION CENTER KITCHEN — FULL FUNDING
FROM: David H. Ready, City Manager
BY: City Manager— Convention Center
"UMMARY
This action would approve the use of excess Convention Center Operating Funds to
fully fund the Kitchen Project and would rescind the previously approved deductive
Change Order.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Adopt Minute Order No. , authorizing the use of excess 2005-06 Convention
Center Operating Funds to fully fund the Kitchen project.
2. Adopt Minute Order No. , rescinding Deductive Change Order No.1 to City
Project No. 02-27A, restoring the project to its original scope.
STAFF ANALYSIS:
On April 5, 2006 the City Council awarded the Convention Center Kitchen Project and
approved a deductive change order to reduce the scope of the project to fit the budget.
At the same time instructions were given to try and find the dollars necessary to fully
fund the project. The Convention Center has had a good year and the excess operating
funds it is producing can be utilized to fund this capital project. The two attached Minute
Orders would authorize the use of the excess funds and would rescind the deductive
change order.

FISCAL IMPACT: IFinance Director Review:
There will be no General Fund impact as the dollars being utilized are excess operating
funds from the Convention Center activities that would normally be rolled forward into
capital projects.
