Ready, City Manager BY: Human Resources SUMMARY This requested action would establish the City's Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan for fiscal year 2006-07. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Approve Resolution No. , A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS CALIFORNIA ADOPTING THE ALLOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006-2007. STAFF ANALYSIS: The attached Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan implements the Council's approval of the 2006-07 budget. The major changes include a number of reclassifications to existing positions in the Planning Services, Community & Economic Development and Finance Departments. They have been reclassified to better reflect the operations of each department. Also included are: the addition of one (1) Public Arts Coordinator and Special Projects position; the addition of one (1) Fire Prevention Specialist (non-safety) position; the addition of one half time (.50) Government Broadcast Aide position; the addition of three and a quarter (3.25) Recreation Program Assistants; the addition of one (1) Crime Analyst (non-sworn) position, and one (1) Assistant Community Policing Officer (non- sworn) position to supplement police programs. We will also be adding two (2) additional Police Officers to be paid out of the CFD Public Safety Fund. Item No. 2 . 0 . Any additional positions and/or changes that may result from labor negotiations will be brought back to Council for separate action. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE ALLOCATED POSITIONS AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006- 2007. WHEREAS, an Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan was adopted on June 8, 2005 for the 2005-06 fiscal year by Resolution No. 21284; and WHEREAS, the City Council adopted an annual budget for fiscal year 2006-07 on June 7, 2006; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish an Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan for fiscal year 2006-07 consistent with the provisions of the fiscal year 2006-07 annual budget. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan attached to this resolution as Exhibit "A", is hereby adopted and shall become effective on July 1, 2006. For the purpose of this Resolution, the Allocated Positions and Compensation Plan shall be deemed to include the provisions of any applicable Memorandum of Understanding that applies to any person holding an allocated position.
