F A L M S'04 �2 11 N b k C, MEp `P gOizo City Council Staff Report DATE: June 21, 2006 CONSENT CALENDAR SUBJECT: FILING OF NUISANCE ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS AND ACCOUNTING REPORTS FOR TWELVE PUBLIC NUISANCES. FROM: David H. Ready, City Manager BY': Department of Building & Safety SUMMARY City Council will authorize the setting of a public hearing. At the public hearing, City Council will provide an opportunity for property owners to be heard. This report is a required step in the adoption process to allow for a special assessment to be placed on the individual property tax rolls for monies owed to the City. RECOMMENDATION: 1. Receive and file the proceedings and accounting reports for the abatement of twelve public nuisances located throughout the City. 2. Direct staff to set the public hearing for July 19, 2006. STAFF ANALYSIS: Section 11.72.260 of the Palm Springs Municipal Code requires this report of proceedings and accounting to be filed with the City Council. In the course of normal activities, Code Compliance staff posted priority cases as public nuisances following non-compliance by owners. After time limitations lapsed, abatement procedures were completed. Attached to this report are the proceedings and accounting reports for twelve of these public nuisances that have been abated, but for which the property owners have not paid the billing. The total amount outstanding is $13,914.47. FISCAL 9MPACT: The City has already paid the bills incurred for these twelve abatements. These bills include City Attorney fees, abatement contractor costs, and staff time costs. If �/� Item No. 2 . M .
